T-W-E-N-T-Y !!!!
When I started this feast 20 days ago, I could hardly imagine what it would be like to arrive at day 20. I'm so proud of myself for having come this far! It seems odd to say that no solid foods have passed these lips for 20 days. TWENTY DAYS! It's true that I still have a L-O-N-G way to go, but when I started, making it to day 20 was kind of the first big milestone I was shooting for. That's because on a 92-day feast, it's been said that you can expect major life changes after day 20. This is around the time feasters start to enter into a state of euphoria. So here it is day 20, and I'm feeling pretty euphoric about making it this far!
"Hello Shins..."
A few years ago I decided I wanted to be a runner. And what's the best way to become a runner? Why, of course! To train for and run a marathon (uff da).
My epic plan started out well. I actually trained up to the point where I was running 9 miles at a time. Not bad for a non-runner, right? That's about the time my shins started to give me trouble. But I pressed on. I mean, I wasn't going let a little pain stop me. It was about a week after running 9 miles that my epic plan fell apart. Actually, it fractured. Literally. I developed some nasty stress fractures in both shins and my aspirations of being a marathon runner were suddenly over.
My shins have never really been the same since my training debacle. Each time that I've tried to resume running, my shins have other ideas, "Nope! I don't think so, Ellen!"
Today I woke up in bed and one of my shins was throbbing. So were both of my knees (snowboarding injuries). I haven't been getting any exercise other than walking my dog, so I'm hoping it's just my old sports injuries stopping by for a visit before they make their way out the door. Good-bye old scar tissue! Hello, healthy new bones and cartilage!

Sleep & Dreams: 10 hours! Ahhh..Blisssss. I had another cleansing dream last night. This time it was related to the feelings of isolation I sometimes feel surrounding my occupation (freelance writer). The over all theme highlighted the nature of my husband's work (very team oriented) and how excluded I feel sometimes not being part of a team.
Exercise: Hike with dog. I'm really trying to take it easy on the first part of this cleanse, but I'm considering adding in some cardio or light weights soon (I was going to wait until around day 30), because I feel like I have a lot of excess energy during the day.
Sauna: 20 minutes
Energy: Awesome! I was definitely more low energy than usual when I woke up today, probably due to my low intake of juice yesterday. Once I drank a little juice and had a little water, my energy came online and I was back up to full speed.
Comments: I'm thrilled to be almost three full weeks into this feast. I feel great, and I have every intention of completing the full 92 days.
